Candidates for Invisalign®
If you are affected by crooked or misaligned teeth, you likely qualify as a candidate for Invisalign®. How Invisalign® Works
Invisalign® is a truly innovative orthodontic treatment, in that it serves the same purpose as traditional metal braces without being cumbersome, uncomfortable, and attention-getting. Invisalign® involves a system of teeth aligners that are nearly invisible – in fact, hardly anyone has to know you are straightening your teeth unless you tell them. Once an initial impression of your teeth has been taken, the Invisalign® aligners are custom-designed and molded to fit your teeth. These moldings come in a series of aligners that are adjusted for the gradual progression of treatment – once you have worn a set of aligners for about two weeks, you will discard them and move on to the next set in the series, thereby gradually straightening your teeth over a period of time.
One of the chief benefits of Invisalign® is that it can work its magic without causing undue hassle and changes in lifestyle habits the way some other orthodontic treatments can. You can remove the aligners for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. Also, the Invisalign® system often straightens teeth in less time than it takes traditional braces. Depending on the extent of the treatment you will need, many patients wear the aligners for about one year.
