Your First Visit

Your first visit to a new dental office can be an anxious experience. Here at Mission Trails Dentistry, it is our goal to provide you a relaxed dental atmosphere and a very comprehensive exam.

We start by discussing your concerns in our consultation room before we proceed with a tour of our office. The tour includes visits to our sterilization area, rest rooms, our own crown & bridge dental lab, the hygiene area, and ends by seating you in one of our modern treatment rooms. Radiographs, or x-rays are then taken along with photos with our intraoral camera, a small camera that actually goes inside your mouth. It is at this time that we begin a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and oral mucosa. It includes an oral cancer and TMJ evaluation and periodontal pocket charting which helps us to check for gum disease.

A cosmetic dentistry and breath evaluation completes the exam. It is followed by your doctor answering any questions you may have about our office or the diagnosis. By performing a comprehensive exam in a relaxed, caring and friendly environment, we hope to provide the first of many positive visits to our office.

PATIENTS WITH DENTAL INSURANCE

At your initial visit, please bring an insurance form and card. We are happy to file the necessary forms so that you receive the full benefits of your coverage. We will bill your insurance company directly and estimate your portion at each visit. You will be responsible for paying your portion on the day of your appointment. Need to schedule an appointment? You can do it now – online!

It is important to realize:

1. Your insurance is a contract between you, your employer and the insurance company. We are not a party to that contract.
2. We can make no guarantee of any estimated coverage. Although we file insurance claims as a courtesy to our patients, all patients will be directly responsible for all charges.
3. Some insurance companies pay a percentage (such as 50% or 80%) of fees considered usual, customary and reasonable or "UCR." Our fees generally fall within this range and will be covered up to the maximum allowance as determined by the insurance carrier. Other insurance companies reimburse based on a schedule of fees which bears no relationship to the current standard and cost of dental care in this area.
4. Not all dental services are a covered benefit in all plans. Be aware that some insurance companies select certain services they will not cover. We will gladly discuss your proposed treatment and answer any questions relating to your insurance. Please feel free to call our front office staff.
